Musical virtuosos Marcy Marxer and Steve Kaufman, both independent musicians, have created the World Virtual Acoustic Contests. In these virtual events any player in the world with an internet connection and a way to videotape their entry is welcomed to enter. These events are open to players of every age, background and level.
Go to: https://bit.ly/UkuleleContest or Click the Registration Button
Step 1. Register early to hold your place. Each entry for players 15 and older costs $20.
Ages 14 and under are FREE in the Youthful Ukers Category. Everyone, please send a photo of yourself with your ukulele to firstname.lastname@example.org. Kids, tell us your age! Registrations are being accepted through https://bit.ly/UkuleleContest.
Step 2. Practice your entry so it can be performed on one unedited video. Your choice of material must be Family Friendly. No profanity will be accepted. Videos must not be over 3 minutes in length. AND be sure to click “LIKE” on the World Virtual Acoustic Contests Facebook Page to make sure you see every update.
Step 3. Film your video on a Phone, iPad, Android, Computer, etc, in LANDSCAPE mode(turn your phone sideways). Your entry will not be judged on video quality. At the beginning of the video please say “I’m (your name) and this is my entry for the WVUC 2021 in the (name your category) category.” Please tell us if your entry is original. At the end of your video please say, “Thank You”. Please remember that your entire entry needs to be no longer than THREE Minutes exactly. Shorter is fine. Longer videos will be automatically disqualified.
This protocol is meant to eliminate the possibility of old videos being used. The judges want to hear new performances! Contestants' faces and their instruments should be in full view of the camera throughout the performance.
Step 4. Save your video as an UNLISTED YOUTUBE link and then post your video to the World Virtual Acoustic Contests Facebook Page starting February 26, 2021 at 10:00AM Eastern Time. We will be watching for you! If Marcy and/or Steve clicks “LIKE” on your video it is there for everyone to see. Post on the page and in a few minutes click on the COMMUNITY TAB to be sure you see your video. Contestant’s videos will ALL be on the Community Page. ALL Announcements will be on the HOME page for all to see. With questions or problems, email UkeContest@gmail.com.
